Klopp admits Kagawa not returning to Dortmund

SpVgg Greuther Fuerth v Borussia Dortmund - DFB Cup

Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he has failed to convince Manchester United‘s Japanese playmaker Shinji Kagawa to return to Germany.

Kagawa was considered one of the best players in the Bundesliga in Borussia Dortmund’s double-winning 2011-12 season. However, he has not had the best debut season at Manchester United, suffering various injuries and not getting enough playing time.

There were rumours that Kagawa was unhappy at United, and that Klopp was trying to woo back his star midfielder, with whom he shared a close relationship, back to Borussia Dortmund.

However, Klopp told Sky Deutschland that this move was out of the question, and that Kagawa would be staying at United.

“This is not an issue for him this year, not even for us,” said Klopp.

“It was clear relatively quickly, Shinji wants to prevail this year at Manchester United. I did not expect a different answer, you just have to ask even once.”
