Real Madrid dropped points for the second home game in a row, while also suffering an injury scare as Karim Benzema was brought off with a leg injury in the first half against Levante.

Marcelo earned a straight red card late on in the game after kicking out at opposition midfielder Jefferson Lerma, as Madrid failed to beat Levante for the first time in 6 years. The following are the player ratings from the game.

Real Madrid

Kiko Casilla: 7/10

Casilla was relatively untested through the game, but he could probably have done a better job of directing his defence for the play in which he conceded their goal.

Dani Carvajal: 6/10

He was the defender marking Ivi as the Levante forward capitalised on a long throw to give them the lead in the 12th minute. Though found wanting on that occasion, Carvajal went on to have a busy day in the office in both attack and defence.

Sergio Ramos: 7/10

Ramos expertly headed Real's defence and effected a few good stops himself. His header rebounded and was turned in by Lucas Vazquez for Real's only goal. He got himself booked for a wild effort in the opposition box, though.

Nacho Fernandez: 7/10

Nacho has acquitted himself well in Varane's shoes yet again, turning in a decent performance at the centre-back role, while he also set up Gareth Bale sumptuously late on in the first half.

Marcelo: 5/10

He got himself sent off late in the game with a stupid kick-out, stalling much of Real's game-ending momentum. Did not impose himself as well as usual during the rest of the match either.

Toni Kroos: 6/10

It was a forgettable afternoon for the usually imperious German maestro, though he nearly won it in the last minute of stoppage time as his shot hit the woodwork.

Marcos Llorente: 6/10

Brought into the team as part of a team rotation move by Zidane, he was taken off in the 62nd minute as the Frenchman sought to strengthen Real's hold over the game. Llorente had an average game.

Theo Hernandez: 6/10

The left winger switched positions with Marcelo on a number of occasions, but despite a few crosses, he failed to produce anything of note in his forward role.

Lucas Vazquez: 7/10

Vazquez got Real the goal that put the scores back level. He was a livewire down Real's right and managed to fashion a few half-chances that went unconverted.

Marco Asensio: 6/10

Asensio was not at his best in the central role thrust on him during this game. He looked better off sticking to the wide areas and was more influential in the final period.

Karim Benzema: 5/10

He was unable to stamp his presence during the 25 minutes that he was able to play. Had to be brought off with what looks like a leg muscle issue by the 28th minute.

Substitutes

Gareth Bale: 5/10

He had 4 good shots on goal, out of which he could have converted 2 on his best day. Bale could have done a whole lot better with the service he had, but was ultimately kept in check by a disciplined defending effort from Levante.

Mateo Kovacic: 6/10

Brought on in the 72nd minute Kovacic provided a more assured player in the centre of the park for Kroos and Isco to partner with, allowing Asensio to move wide.

Isco: 7/10

The attacking midfielder gave Real the upper hand in the latter stages of the game, using his close control to keep possession in the opposition half and fashion chances. He was unable to create much of note, however.

Levante

Raul Fernandez: 8/10

The Levante custodian had a good day in office. While he was also aided by the profligacy of Real's forwards, he kept a cool head and made all the saves and interceptions he could.

Ivan Lopez: 7/10

The captain's long throw set up Ivi for his goal. However, he hobbled off early in the first half with an injury.

Sergio Postigo: 7/10

Postigo looked up to the unenviable challenge of keeping Benzema and co at bay, except for a few situations off set pieces.

Chema: 6/10

The journeyman defender, playing against some of the best opposition he has ever faced, proved up to the task of marking Bale, Asensio and other central runners' runs into the box. He also proved his comfort on the ball, helping Levante retain possession in spells.

Tono: 6/10

The left-back was often left isolated with Carvajal or Vazquez, and he allowed a few crosses from his side of Levante's backline. He was able to cope with much of the threat posed.

Ivi Lopez: 7/10

The Sevilla academy graduate, getting his first taste of top-tier professional action this season, scored his second goal of the season with an opportunistic run and a neatly placed finish past Casilla in the 12th minute.

J. Lerma: 8/10

The Colombian was forced to spend most of the match jockeying around in the middle third of the pitch for the ball. He did himself no harm with his performance this match, keeping things tight and making life difficult for Kroos and co.

Suarez Pier: 6/10

Fielded as a defensive midfielder despite being a centre-back by trade, the Deportivo loanee kept his wits about him and produced a good display.

Campana: 7/10

He was good with his set piece delivery. Though unable to stop Ramos from heading the ball in the play that led to Levante's concession, Campana put in a shift as well.

Jason: 6/10

While he had a few moments to himself in Real's half, most of his afternoon was spent traipsing down his own flank in defence. Jason was a presence on the less attractive end too, though he failed to create a final ball or chance of note.

Alegria: 6/10

On loan from Betis this season, Alegria managed one shot and two clashes with Nacho Fernandez during the game, one of which earned him a yellow card. He was replaced by Boateng in the 57th minute.

Substitutes

Samuel Sanchez: 6/10

Brought on in the 68th minute as a pair of fresh legs to trouble Real in the latter stages, Samu failed to create anything of note in attack but was on hand in defence to man mark Marcelo till the time the Brazilian stayed on the pitch.

Pedro Lopez: 6/10

He ended up playing most of the match and had an interesting duel with Marcelo and Theo Hernandez down Levante's left.

Boateng: 6/10

The youngster picked up a yellow card quickly after coming on. He made a number of runs at the end and got off a shot on goal, but failed to impact the game meaningfully.
