Madrid, Oct 22 (IANS) Spain's La Liga leads the list of most watched football leagues in the world with 2.3 billion viewings of their videos on YouTube each month.

According to calculations of La Liga, the Spanish championship has about 1.6 billion active followers on different social networks, compared to 900 million for the English Premier League (EPL), reports Efe.

Ignacio Martinez Trujillo, General Director of Innovation and Global Development of La Liga, said the championship's YouTube channel was launched four years ago and that the figure of 2.3 billion monthly viewings is due to the collaboration with users creating videos for this platform.
