Real Madrid close in on Ferland Mendy

Real Madrid have made a record bid to sign Ferland Mendy according to reports. The left-back is seen as the ideal long-term replacement for Marcelo and Zidane is reportedly keen on signing him.
Olympique Lyon are open to selling him but are not in a hurry as they expect more bids for the left-back. Barcelona, Juventus and Manchester United have also been linked with the defender while Manchester City are also on the hunt for a left-back.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is reportedly confident that more clubs will make a bid for him and increase the price.
Mendy is currently valued at €55 million by Lyon and Real Madrid have reportedly matched the asking price. Éder Militão is currently Madrid's most expensive defensive signing and Mendy's fee will be around €5 million more.
