LaLiga 2018-19: Real Madrid's probable XI versus Leganes

Girona FC v Real Madrid CF - La Liga

Real Madrid get back to playing in front of the Santiago Bernabeu crowd after a convincing 4-1 victory in Girona last weekend. Before heading into the international break, the Whites will be looking to make it three wins in three matches after being successful against Getafe and Girona in the first two matches. We take a look at the possible eleven that Julen Lopetegui is expected to field.

Defence

Leganes v Real Madrid - La Liga

While a lot of people believe that the Saturday match is the perfect setting for Thibaut Courtois to start, it looks like Julen Lopetegui would give Keylor Navas the nod, more so after the Costa Rican has claimed the UEFA Best Goalkeeper Award. Sergio Ramos is expected to start with Raphael Varane also looking set for his first LaLiga start of the season. Marcelo and Dani Carvajal could take the positions of the fullbacks, however, Alvaro Odriozola starting should not be ruled out.

Midfield

Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid - UEFA Super Cup

Real Madrid boast one of the world’s most sought-after midfielders. Toni Kroos has flourished under Julen Lopetegui and looks ready for a third successive start in three competitive matches for the Whites. Casemiro has been looking solid in the last two games and may get the nod yet again. Luka Modric is yet to start a competitive fixture for Madrid this season and might get the long due start on Saturday night after claiming the UEFA Best Midfielder and Best Player Awards on Thursday night.

Attack

Manchester United v Real Madrid - International Champions Cup 2018

Real Madrid’s formidable attack looks to be standing out in spite of Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure. Karim Benzema has scored thrice in as many competitive outings for the Whites this season while Gareth Bale has also scored two in the league in two matches. Both, the French and Welsh, look set to start another game together in the Bernabeu. Having seen most Spanish players in action under Julen Lopetegui, Lucas Vazquez’s unleashing is the only thing pending. The former Espanyol man might start ahead of Marco Asensio in the Leganes meeting.
