It took Lionel Messi and the Barcelona attack a bit of time to get going this past weekend, but the Argentine magician certainly did not disappoint the Camp Nou faithful. The 31-year-old netted two goals against Alavés and was a constant nuisance for the visitors in the final third.

Motivated for yet another LaLiga crown and a run at the UEFA Champions League as well, Messi looks poised for excellence in 2018-19.

André Silva – Sevilla FC

It can take a while for a player to be comfortable in new surroundings and a new league. That is not the case for André Silva, who already looks in-form for Sevilla this season.

In his LaLiga debut with Los Nervionenses, Silva scored a hat-trick for his side in a 4-1 demolition of Rayo Vallecano.

José Luis Morales – UD Levante

Betis were confident ahead of the new campaign. But Levante were prepared for a challenge this past weekend, and José Luis Morales supplied the firepower up front.

With Levante clinging to a slim 1-0 advantage at half-time, the 31-year-old scored a brace that guaranteed a winning start to the term for the Valencian club.
