Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri has admitted the fact that Jamie Vardy could be allowed to leave the club next summer, if any of the big clubs come calling with the right amount of money, Mirror reports.
The English player was linked with a move to Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur, a couple of days ago. However, Ranieri blatantly denied the rumours earlier, saying that there will be no January move for the striker.
Later on Monday, when Ranieri was talking about his team’s trip to Hull City for the League Cup tie, he admitted that the striker might be allowed to leave in the summer.
As reported by The Mirror, the Italian manager of Leicester City said, “It is important Jamie enjoys here and after I can also understand if he wants to go to find a great club but it would cost a lot.”
“If Real Madrid or some big names want to buy him they have the money to buy him. The valuation is made by the owners not me. Not many teams can buy him now. But nobody asks (for) him, he is very happy here and we don’t want to sell him – it is clear.”
He added, “He is happy with us, he is happy with his contract and that is important - maybe at the end of the season.”
Vardy was playing for a non-league side Fleetwood Town as recently as in 2012. He was bought by Leicester City for a reported fee of £1 million before the 2012-13 season. However, his first year as a league footballer was not good enough, but he came back strong in the following season and has not looked back since.
His most notable performance came against Manchester United in the 2014-15 season, when he helped his team come back from 1-3 down to win the match 5-3, scoring one and setting up the other four goals.
The 2015-16 season has been nothing less than spectacular for the England national thus far. He has notched up ten goals in as many matches in the league. The Foxes defeated Crystal Palace on Saturday with the help of a Vardy goal. This was the seventh match running in which the 28-year old has scored a goal, if not more.
If the Leicester forward, who was handed his England debut back in June, continues to perform at the same level, then it will only get difficult for The Foxes to hold on to their most prized possession for long.
