During La Liga’s Monday night award ceremony, Barcelona took home five prizes, leaving Real Madrid with two. Lionel Messi who won the Best Player award for La Liga 2014-15, accepted the award and also voiced his opinion about the Ballon d’Or nominations for the best player. Messi said.

“I'd have liked to be on [the] Ballon d'Or podium with Neymar and Luis. Luis deserved it, but Cristiano also did well. We'll have a good time."

Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo have made it to the top three of the shortlist. Ronaldo has scored 9 goals for La Liga while Suarez has scored 12. Messi, from his reactions, seem to be a little unhappy about the fact that he will not find his colleague Luis Suarez during the Ballon d’Or Award ceremony to be held in Zurich on January 11th, 2016.

The three of them, Messi, Suarez and Neymar, the great MSN of Barcelona, have contributed to the scoring of 125 goals over the period of the last calendar year 2015, which no other European team, other than Bayern Munich, has been able to achieve. Neymar who has himself scored 14 goals in the La Liga alone backs Messi’s claim.

The Brazillian who has always been in awe of his team-mate is confident that Messi will bag the award. He also said, “Suarez should have been there too, but Messi is favourite, he's the number one for me.”

When asked about the secret behind the success of MSN, he said, “Friendship and modesty. Leo and Luis are great friends, I hope to play with them for a long time, there are no egos."

Messi will be hoping to win his 5th Ballon d’Or. Ronaldo and Messi have continually been the two common players in the Ballon d’Or shortlist for some years now. Neymar and Suarez are the rising stars from the same league.
