Lionel Messi is better than Cristiano Ronaldo feels Sevilla defender Adil Rami

Lionel Messi
Messi is the best in the world in the eyes of Rami

Sevilla defender Adil Rami feels Lionel Messi is a much better player when compared to Cristiano Ronaldo. The Frenchman has faced both players during his time in Spain with Sevilla and has a good judge of how each player operates.

The Messi-Ronaldo debate is one that has dragged on since the Portuguese joined Real Madrid from Manchester United in 2009. Both players have pushed each other to the limits during their time in Spain.

Both have broken several records with their respective clubs and it has taken the Barcelona – Real Madrid rivalry to new heights. The two are very different players by design but one is clearly better than the other according to the defender.

Ronaldo’s strengths lie in his athleticism, pace and power while Messi is more a naturally gifted dribbler able to ghost past defenders like they aren’t there. But Rami explains that there is one thing that sets Messi apart from the rest.

According to Goal.com Rami spoke about his experience in meeting Messi,Ronaldo and Griezmann but saw only one player who he would vote for in the Ballon d’Or. “Yes I met Ronaldo, Messi and Griezmann and sincerely, I respect all three," he said. "It's true that these are the best players in the world today for me, even if we can add many more.”

"But since I arrived in Spain, the question I hear most is: Ronaldo or Messi? The two best players in the world are there, but Messi is Messi.Between two, three players, he manages to make a difference, to move, to get around and if he really sees a big aggressive group in front of him he will find the pass you need.”

"[Messi] is really much more 'team' than Ronaldo and I think that's why I put him on top.”

Messi leads Argentina boycott of media

Messi’s Argentine team-mate Ezequiel Lavezzi was accused of taking cocaine and other recreational drugs by certain media outlets which angered the 29-year-old. He has now stated that he and his teammates will not speak to the media after the reportedly false accusations.

Messi helped his Argentina side to a 3-0 win over Colombia last night with a brilliant goal and also assisted the other two. His team were desperately in need of the win after their qualification for the 2018 World Cup was hanging in the balance.

Argentina currently lie 5th in the table which guarantees a play-off spot but it would be a lot more comfortable if they made it to the automatic qualification spots.
