Lionel Messi was withdrawn due to a thigh injury against Atletico Madrid in the Supercopa in mid-week and remains a doubt for the weekend.
A statement on Barcelona‘s website revealed that Lionel Messi’s availability is doubtful for their match against Malaga in the La Liga on Sunday.
Messi was withdrawn at half time during the mid-week Spanish Supercopa clash with Atletico Madrid when he complained of taking a knock and suffering pain on the back of his thigh.
A statement on the Barca website read:
“Tests have revealed that the Argentinian has bruised the femoral biceps tendon in his left thigh. The FCB Medical Services have announced that they will be monitoring the player’s progress this week before deciding whether he will be fit to play on Sunday.”
