Another day and another loss for Real Madrid. Real Madrid were handed 2-0 defeat at their own home as Real Sociedad managed to get better than them. It is their first defeat in the first two games this year after their dismal showing against Villareal which resulted in a draw.
The abysmal form of Los Blancos is not going away anytime soon. It was Real Sociedad's first win in the Santiago Bernabeu after 2004. It seems nothing is going right for the European champions after the departures of their greatest goalscorers Cristiano Ronaldo and manager Zinedine Zidane.
Real Madrid are currently fifth on LaLiga, out of the top 4, which is the criteria for automatic qualification for the UEFA Champions League from Spain. They are ten points behind league leaders Barcelona with a disappointing goal difference of just three and it seems very unlikely that they will win the league this season.
While most pundits cited the lack of goalscorers as the pivotal reason for Real Madrid's poor streak throughout the 2018/19 season, there is no one particular to blame. It is the collective failure of the players, the board and the current boss, Santiago Solari.
One insane stat which depicts the failures of Real Madrid forwards in front of goal is that now Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi now has been involved in as many goals as Real Madrid have scored in the LaLiga in the ongoing 2018/19 season.

In the current season, Lionel Messi has scored 16 goals and 10 assists for Barcelona. Although his impact cannot be measured with mere statistics, the statistics is frankly embarrassing for a team like Real Madrid.
It is crystal clear that Real Madrid are missing the exploits of former talisman Cristiano Ronaldo. Cristiano Ronaldo became Real Madrid's top-scorer in his nine seasons with the club and his mercurial presence in front of goal cannot be matched by the likes of Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale.
What is amazing about Lionel Messi is his ability to be one of the best playmakers around even after being the top-scorer in current season so far. He has provided 10 assists so far in LaLiga and there is no doubt that his impact is the pivotal reason for Barcelona's huge lead at the top of the table.
While it is also true that that lack of goalscorers is not the only problem for Real Madrid, it is one of the pivotal reasons for their downfall this season. It remains to be seen whether the current crop of Real Madrid forward can step up and score more for their team when required. More miseries await Los Blancos in other competitions if their current performances continue for the remaining part of the season.
