Lionel Messi to sign a new contract

Lionel Messi is to sign a new extension to his contract at Barcelona which expires on June 30, 2016, suggests Marca.

The deal will be his sixth extension since 2005, and he will be meeting Barcelona President Sandro Rosell.

Leo had been hinting that he is not concerned about his contract as he is keen to play out his entire career with the Spanish club.

“As far as I know, there’s still nothing. But my contract doesn’t worry me at all. I know what I want so there’s no problem,” said Messi.

“My objectives with the club are longstanding; to improve and to try to win everything that we have already won. They say that I am very competitive,” he added.

“I like to train, I like to play and I like to win. I have always been like that since I was young, but it would make me very happy if one of my team-mates won the Ballon d’Or, they also deserve it. Without my team-mates I would not have won everything that I have won.”

“I do not compete against Ronaldo, I try to do the best possible with Barca and with Argentina,” he said.

“That is something that the press have invented. Neither Ronaldo nor myself competes with the other.”
