Argentina and Barcelona ace Lionel Messi has been awarded the European Golden Boot for the second time in his career, for his 50-goal tally in the La Liga last season.
The title, given to the highest goalscorer across all of Europe’s domestic leagues, was won by Messi in 2010 as well, when his 34-goal campaign helped Barcelona to a domestic title triumph.
Messi outscored Cristiano Ronaldo by four goals last season, and has already scored 13 goals in nine appearances in the ongoing league campaign.

On receiving the award, Messi said: “It is a prize for scoring goals, but without my teammates I couldn’t have scored them.”
Messi was given the boot by former Barcelona player Luis Suarez.
