Arsenal Player Ratings

Bernd Leno was sensational in the Arsenal goal
Bernd Leno was sensational in the Arsenal goal

Bernd Leno - 10/10

He made five outstanding saves in the match, and then proceeded to save two penalties. Leno was the easy call to be named Man of the Match.

Cedric Soares - 5/10

Cedric didn't really provide much of a threat down the Arsenal right flank. He also was not really convincing defensively against Jota.

Rob Holding - 6/10

Holding had a couple of nervy moments at the back, which might have been costlier on another day. He also could have scored with that powerful header in the second half, but was denied by Adrian.

Gabriel Magalhaes - 8/10

Gabriel was outstanding. He was strong in the air, good in the tackle, and passed the ball well. Another superb game for the Brazilian who only joined Arsenal a couple of weeks ago.

Sead Kolasinac - 5/10

Kolasinac defended pretty well against Salah for the most part, but he did make a couple of stupid mistakes, which Liverpool did not capitalise on.

Granit Xhaka - 6/10

Xhaka would have been relieved that Liverpool didn't set their pressing animals out on him again. With a bit more time on the ball, he was able to weigh and play his passes a lot better than he did on Monday.

Dani Ceballos - 5/10

Ceballos was supposed to be the creative spark for Arsenal, but he barely managed to thread too many threatening passes through to the attacking players.

Joe Willock - 6/10

Willock kept plugging away down the Arsenal right, to not much avail, but his effort was there for all to see. He also had a moment to remember, as he scored the winning penalty in the shootout.

Nicolas Pepe - 3/10

Starting on the left wing for Arsenal in this game, Pepe was poor. He was dribbling into blind alleys and was well-marshalled by Neco Williams. The Ivorian really needs to improve his end-product in the final third.

Eddie Nketiah - 4/10

Nketiah couldn't really get into the game, as much as he tried. He ddidn't get much service from the wide areas and was really only feeding on scraps.

Bukayo Saka - 7/10

Saka had a bright game as usual, dribbling past opponents, and passing the ball well.

Substitutes

Mohamed Elneny - 4/10

Elneny is a lucky boy. He missed his spot kick before Liverpool had missed any of theirs, but Leno saved the Egyptian's blushes.

Alexandre Lacazette - 6/10

His only real action in the game was to score the penalty in the shootout, which he did with no real trouble.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles - 6/10

His unique, calm style of taking a penalty really caught the eye again, in what was his only real contribution on the evening.
