Manchester United Player Ratings vs. Liverpool

David De Gea - 6/10

He only really had one difficult save to make, and that was from a long-range shot by Liverpool midfielder Thiago, which he saved comfortably enough.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka - 6/10

Wan-Bissaka was good enough against the threat of Mane on that flank, with Liverpool reduced to very few entries into the Manchester United penalty area.

Victor Lindelof - 6/10

Lindelof was rock-solid on his return to the Manchester United team. He made a couple of excellent last-ditch interventions to prevent chances for Liverpool.

Harry Maguire - 7/10

The Manchester United captain led by example. He defended superbly against the Reds' attackers, and even made a great intervention to deny Liverpool frontman Firmino in the second half.

Luke Shaw - 8/10

Shaw was Manchester United's best player. Defensively, he let nothing get past him. He also went forward well, and set up a great opportunity for Fernandes.

Fred - 5/10

Fred did not have a great game, unfortunately for United. He gave the ball away too often, and a bit too easily.

Scott McTominay - 6/10

This was one of those necessary but unspectacular performances from McTominay. He was there to break up what he had to, but didn't get forward enough, as he has done in some other games.

Paul Pogba - 7/10

Starting on the right side of midfield, Pogba had a very good game. He sometimes allowed Robertson to run beyond him, but he carried the ball well, created some decent chances, but missed his own. Instead of focusing solely on power, he could easily have picked a spot and placed that finish to beat Alisson.

Bruno Fernandes - 5/10

If Pogba's shot had too much power on it, Fernandes' from his big chance had too little. Even otherwise, this was barely a vintage performance from the Portuguese.

Anthony Martial - 4/10

A nutmeg on Alexander-Arnold in the first half was the highlight of Martial's game.

Marcus Rashford - 5/10

Rashford got caught offside far too often. He had one great chance to run at Liverpool in the second half, but somehow got dragged too wide and the chance was dead by then.

Substitutes

Edinson Cavani - 5/10

Cavani made a few good runs after coming on in the second half, but barely saw the ball come to his feet.

Mason Greenwood - N/A

Greenwood didn't have enough time on the field to make any impact.
