Tottenham Hotspur player ratings against Liverpool

Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League
Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League

Hugo Lloris - 7/10

Hugo Lloris was mostly called into action to field a straight-forward shot from the Liverpool players. He made a couple of great saves to deny Firmino in the first half, though.

Serge Aurier - 6/10

Serge Aurier defended really well when Mane was one-on-one against him. However, outside of that, he still was prone to the odd moment of madness. He gave the ball away straight to a Liverpool player on at least four separate occasions.

Toby Alderweireld - 5/10

Toby Alderweireld had a part to play in both goals that Spurs conceded. The first one was unfortunate, as Salah's shot deflected off his shin when he went to block it. For the second goal, he was marking Firmino but let him go, and the Brazilian made him pay.

Eric Dier - 6/10

Eric Dier had a good game for Tottenham at the back. He kept things simple and ensured that there was no trouble being caused from his side.

Ben Davies - 6/10

He had the reasonably difficult task of dealing with the dual threat of Salah and Alexander-Arnold, but dealt with it pretty well.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg - 5/10

Hojbjerg's physicality and tenacity has been a big plus for Spurs so far this season, but he was well below-par against Liverpool. With Firmino dropping deep, and Wijnaldum and Jones pushing forward from midfield, there were too many Liverpool bodies in his zone for the Dane to be comfortable.

Moussa Sissoko - 5/10

In the first half, he played as a right winger and was really uncomfortable, as he let Robertson run off him a couple of times. He looked a lot more comfortable after half-time, when he was moved into a central role.

Giovani Lo Celso - 7/10

Giovani Lo Celso produced a superb pass to set up Son's goal. In addition, he also made a couple of crucial tackles to deny Liverpool attackers a clear sight of goal.

Steven Bergwijn - 5/10

He missed two massive chances when he was clean through on goal. In the first, he cut across the ball and it went well wide. The second one, which was created by Son's flick-on, should have been scored but Bergwijn's shot hit the post.

Son Heung-Min - 7/10

Son Heung-Min took his goal with aplomb, and his pace behind the Liverpool defence was a massive threat throughout the game.

Harry Kane - 4/10

This was a poor performance from Harry Kane. He missed a sitter with his header in the second half. His overall link-up play was below par as well.

Substitutes

Lucas Moura - 5/10

He replaced Lo Celso early in the second half but really didn't create much from the right wing for Spurs.

Sergio Reguilon - 5/10

He came on for the last quarter of an hour to replace Bergwijn on the left flank.

Dele Alli - N/A

Alli barely had a touch of the ball in the five minutes that he did play.
