Liverpool 2-2 West Bromwich Albion: Player Ratings

Craig Dawson Liverpool West Brom
West Brom players celebrate Craig Dawson’s equaliser in the first half

West Brom

Boaz Myhill - 6 Going into this game, Myhill was the keeper with the most clean sheets in the league after Joe Hart. Although it wasn’t a clean sheet, he was solid enough and made a great and important save to deny Lallana late on.

Craig Dawson - 7 Dawson worked hard down right and scored the equaliser for West Brom from a corner.

Gareth McAuley - 8 He was the man of the match. A pillar of strength in the middle and a threat during set-pieces, McAuley was perhaps West Brom’s best player.

Jonas Olsson - 7 He scored his team’s second goal just before half-time and rightly so. He had a goal disallowed earlier due to him being offside (only with five other West Brom players) However, he did manage to score another- this time not offside- in the second half and gave his team the lead. He did his job well at both ends.

Chris Brunt - 7 Due to Brunt’s great set piece delivery, Olsson converted his beautiful corner into a goal. He was solid in defence and was one of the Baggies’ best players.

Darren Fletcher - 7 Fletcher was one of the players people were expecting a lot going into the match. He had to do some hard work in middle to reduce the threat of Liverpool at the onset.

Jonny Evans – 7Evans made a lot of interceptions and passes. He held the ball well. He showed how he can be good at any role – centre midfield, centre back or left back.

Craig Gardner - 7 Gardner was very lucky to have gotten away without a foul for his challenge on Dejan Lovren which saw the defender stretchered off. However, he was another player who showed some skill during set-pieces.

James Morrison - 6 Morrison always looked a threat going forward but didn’t have much of an impact during the attack.

James McClean - 6 McClean played a key role in quietening the Liverpool defence. He was the handy player that West Brom needed and showed how he fits in the team well.

Salomon Rondon - 7 Salomon had a great chance of sealing a victory for his team towards the end but shot wide. He won the battle with Benteke with his energy. He didn’t stop working or making runs, showing why he’s important for the team.
