Rickie Lambert may be nearing a move to Liverpool in the near future, but according to the Daily Star, Liverpool may not be finished yet in their hunt for attacking reinforcements, as they are putting the final touches to a £20million package to bring Alexis Sanchez to Anfield.

Liverpool are one of many teams monitoring the situation of the Chilean attacker this summer, with Sanchez thought to be open to a move away from Barcelona after finding his first team opportunities fewer than he would have liked.

Barcelona have insisted they will not sell Sanchez this summer after claiming that he is still an important member of their squad, but that has not deterred the Reds from putting together a package that they hope will cause Barca to relinquish their stance.

A £20m bid would represent just a £2m deficit on the amount Barcelona paid to secure Sanchez’ services from Udinese two years ago, but Liverpool would be expected to match the £90,000 per week salary that the forward is currently receiving at Camp Nou.

While Liverpool are hoping to get all of their business done prior to the start of the World Cup, it is unlikely that any deal for Sanchez can be concluded until the end of the tournament in Brazil, with the Barcelona man already having linked up with his Chilean team-mates ahead of the summer showpiece in Brazil.
