Brighton and Hove Albion

Brighton's defenders had a nightmare in dealing with Liverpool's attackers

Mathew Ryan - 6/10

There was little Ryan could do about any of the Liverpool goals, but he made some fabulous saves to deny Mane and Firmino.

Ezequiel Schelotto - 4/10

Schelotto was poor. Defensively, he was clueless when faced by Mane and Firmino, and while going forward, he did nothing to trouble Robertson.

Shane Duffy - 3/10

Duffy was a lucky man in the first half. He could easily have conceded three penalties - for a handball, a tackle on Salah and a high boot on Solanke. None of those were given though. He went off with an injury, midway through the second half.

Lewis Dunk - 5/10

The only Brighton player to have played every minute of the season for them, Dunk was buried by the overwhelming wave of Liverpool attacks.

Gaetan Bong - 4/10

Bong had his hands full, having to deal with Salah, but he didn't do anywhere near enough to make things difficult for Liverpool.

Dale Stephens - 4/10

He did a lot of running, but he was a mere passenger in the face of Liverpool's intensity and pressing.

Davy Propper - 4/10

Much like Stephens, Propper was a peripheral figure in the game. Given his quality, he should have tried taking charge of possession and troubling Liverpool more than he managed to do.

Beram Kayal - 3/10

Kayal barely had a touch of the ball throughout the game. When he did manage to get possession, he generally found Wijnaldum in the way, to stop him in his tracks.

Anthony Knockaert - 6/10

He was Brighton's best player. He tried to get possession of the ball and get the Seagulls moving forward, but he was fighting a lone battle.

Solly March - 4/10

He was largely anonymous throughout the game but ended up with Brighton's only shot on target.

Jurgen Locadia - 4/10

Is there a provision to check Dejan Lovren's pocket after the game? One would hope that there is, since Locadia needs to be taken out of there.

Substitutes

Pascal Gross - 5/10

He came on midway through the second half, but with Liverpool controlling possession like they were, there wasn't much Gross could do.

Glenn Murray - 5/10

He came on and tried to be a pest for Lovren and Van Dijk, but the two Liverpool centre-backs were up to the task.

Connor Goldson - 4/10

His only real contribution in the game was to muck up an easy back-header to Ryan and concede a corner from it.
