Liverpool 4-1 West Bromwich Albion: Full player ratings as SAS run riot

Luis Suarez

Liverpool:

Simon Mignolet (-31)

A few uncertain moments from the Belgian as he flapped at a corner, causing chaos amongst his defenders with two failed claims.

Glen Johnson (33)

Provided width for his side and retained the ball well.

Aly Cissokho (1)

Superb assist for Suarez’s second, he got forward at every opportunity.

Kolo Toure (35)

Supremely composed in possession with a 90 per cent pass accuracy and rock solid at the back.

Liverpool West Brom Albion stats

Mamadou Sakho (0)

Untroubled in defence and carried the ball out well, recording an 89 percent pass accuracy.

Martin Skrtel (35)

Aerially dominant, winning three out of four headed duels, and a super clearance to deny Anelka when the ball seemed destined for the net.

Lucas Leiva (34)

Tidy in possession with 92 per cent of his passes finding a red shirt and harried his opponents at every opportunity.

Steven Gerrard (41)

Pulled the strings in midfield in another majestic performance, with a superb free-kick for Suarez’s third. Completed 83 per cent of his passes.

Jordan Henderson (-17)

The midfielder never stops running, providing the energy for Gerrard and Lucas.

Daniel Sturridge (83)

May have been outshone by his strike partner, but his sublime effort was arguably the best of them all. Retained the ball well with a 90 percent pass accuracy.

Luis Suarez (120)

A magnificent nutmeg and finish for the first goal, a stunning header for the second and likewise for the third for a 50 per cent chance conversion rate. Unstoppable and well-deserving of Squawka’s man-of-the-match award.

Liverpool vs West Bromwich Albion

Subs:

Martin Kelly (-3)

Didn’t put a foot wrong when he came on for Johnson.

Joe Allen (2)

Had little time to impress.

Luis Alberto (-3)

On for Suarez, not enough time to do anything.

West Bromwich Albion:

Boaz Myhill (-62)

Couldn’t do anything about any of the goals.

Billy Jones (15)

Didn’t cope with the movement of Suarez and was always vulnerable to the overlap.

Gareth McAuley (-13)

Failed to deal with either Suarez or Sturridge. A nightmare afternoon for the centre-back.

Jonas Olsson (-20)

Nutmegged by Suarez for the first goal, things only went downhill from there on. However, he did win all three of his tackles.

Liam Ridgewell (-39)

Stopped the onslaught on his side of the pitch at times but was eventually overwhelmed.

Claudio Yacob (-44)

Failed to win the midfield battle and was powerless to stop Gerrard in full flow.

Liverpool vs West Bromwich Albion stats

Youssouf Mulumbu (66)

Suffered the same fate as Yacob against Gerrard et al but did what he could with a 85 per cent pass accuracy rate.

Morgan Amalfitano (3)

A peripheral figure as West Brom failed to mount enough resistance to the Liverpool attack.

Nicolas Anelka (17)

Unlucky to see his shot cleared off the line but he was otherwise anonymous.

Stephane Sessegnon (-6)

Tidy in possession, even if he didn’t do much else, with an 85 per cent pass accuracy rate.

Victor Anichebe (21)

Held up the ball well and won all four of his headed duels.

Subs:

James Morrison (48)

A superb penalty to pull a goal back making him West Brom’s best player.

Shane Long (-17)

Did little.

Chris Brunt (6)

Didn’t impress.
