As per media reports in German and English media, Liverpool are set to sign Emre Can from Bayer Leverkusen by activating his release clause of around 12 million euros. There has been a lot of speculation in the media that personal terms could be a problem in the deal and Liverpool could turn their attention elsewhere. A formal offer however does indicate that the personal terms have been agreed.

Emre Can is a versatile and strong midfielder who has played in a variety of roles across the defence and the midfield last season. He made 24 starts and 5 subsitute appearances for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga last season. He scored three goals and had three assists in the league. Can has represented Germany on the international stage at the youth levels. He is also elgible to play for Turkey.

The 20 year old could add depth to the midfield of Liverpool which already comprises of Steven Gerrard , Jordan Henderson, Lucas Leiva , Joe Allen and Phillipe Coutinho. Liverpool have already signed Rickie Lambert from Southampton and recent reports suggest a deal for Alberto Moreno could also be on the cards. By signing Can and Moreno, Liverpool would become one of the most active clubs in the transfer market this season.
