Liverpool are chasing Manchester United and Chelsea target Dante, with the towering defender’s future at Bayern Munich unclear, according to the Express.

Dante and his Bayern side achieved the double in Germany this season, but they were torn apart in the Champions League to the hands of eventual champions Real Madrid.

The colossal figure has been the heartbeat of the Bayern squad this season and with Manchester United’s Vidic and Ferdinand leaving the club, and Chelsea selling David Luiz, both sides were keeping tabs on the Brazilian.

However, Brendan Rodgers has joined the race for Dante as he looks to solve his own defensive woes. Liverpool have had a fragile back-line all season, with the likes of Johnson, Sakho, Toure and Agger having come under intense scrutiny. The title has slipped away from the Merseyside outfit and Rodgers, who signed a new Liverpool contract yesterday, will be keen to reinforce his back-line.

The 30-year-old is deemed as the ideal candidate to fill the void at Manchester United and also replace the departing David Luiz at Chelsea. Dante has been a key figure for the Bavarian giants since signing for the club and he will be travelling to the World Cup this summer with his national side.

Dante had a 91% pass accuracy this season, the second-highest in the Bayern side.
