It looks like Brendan Rodgers is very certain that Liverpool once again won’t commit a Andy Carroll like mistake as latest reports suggests that the Merseyside club is slowly but steadily cooling their interest in Southampton star Adam Lallana.

While Southampton is demanding at least £30m for the English international, the Reds gaffer has refused to shell out anything more that £22m for the winger, who, in 2013-14 season, started all the games for the Saints, scoring nine goals and assisting a further six in the process.

It is also reported that the side from St. Mary’s is busying preparing for a host of names that could leave the club this summer after the departures of manager Mauricio Pochettino to Tottenham and forward Rickie Lambert to Liverpool. Winger Lallana has been tipped to follow Lambert to Anfield, while teenage left-back Luke Shaw looks set to be a fight between Manchester United and Chelsea.

Talking on the transfer policy of the club, Southampton's executive director, Les Reed, in a recent interview said, "Lallana has been here long enough, we've brought him to this level and we feel that perhaps he should give it a little bit longer. I hope the announcement will pick up a few ears and they will think that's a good, positive move from the club."

He also sent cautioned Liverpool, saying: "Anybody seriously considering coming for our players are going to have to think very significantly about the size of the fee. If we do take money it will be because it's the right amount and it enables us to improve the team and move forward."
