Liverpool defeated Olympiakos Piraeus 2-0 at Anfield in the testimonial match to celebrate Steven Gerrard’s 15 year career with the Reds.
Joe Allen and Jordan Henderson scored for Liverpool in the 23rd and 62nd minute respectively as they completed an easy win over the Greek champions.
Gerrard’s former team-mates Robbie Fowler and Jamie Carragher also featured in the game. The want-away Uruguyan international Luis Suarez did not start the game but came in as a substitute later.
The Reds’captain has spent his entire career at Anfield, scoring 159 goals in 630 appearances for the club since making his debut in 1998.
Liverpool will now travel to Oslo to face Valerenga before meeting Celtic in Dublin next Saturday.
