Rumour: Liverpool line up £18m bid for Barcelona attacker Alexis Sanchez

Netting Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona would be a real coup for Liverpool going forward

Liverpool are weighing up an £18 million bid for Barcelona’s Alexis Sanchez, as reported by the Daily Star.

Liverpool have been alerted to the availability of Sanchez, who is seeking a move away from the Nou Camp in an attempt to find more regular playing time.

The Chilean forward started 27 games for the Catalan club last season but was subbed off in more than half of those (14/27).

Sanchez is set to represent Chile at the World Cup, so any potential deal will have to wait until he returns from the tournament.

Sanchez is a versatile forward who could operate at any position in Rodger’s forward line, as evidenced by his 19 goals in 34 La Liga appearances for Barcelona last season.

With regards to wages, Sanchez is currently on £90k-a-week at the Nou Camp, which would manageable for Liverpool, considering that their highest earner, Luis Suarez, is believed to be on around £200,000-a-week.

Sanchez’s arrival at Anfield might signal the end for Sunderland loanee Fabio Borini.

Gus Poyet has been impressed by Borini and is expected to lodge an £8m bid for the sprightly Italian in the near future.
