Liverpool’s Luis Alberto successfully completes medical ahead of move to Malaga

Luis Alberto of Liverpool

Liverpool forward Luis Alberto is set to make a season long to Malaga according to ESPN, after successfully completing his medical with the La Liga outfit.

Alberto moved to Liverpool for a fee of £6.8m last summer as Brendan Rodgers opted to scour the depths of Spain for talented youngsters, but likewise with fellow forward Iago Aspas, Alberto has struggled to adapt and make much of an impact at Anfield after finding his first team opportunities limited.

With the likes of Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi linked with a move to to Liverpool this summer as Rodgers looks to strengthen his squad going into the new season, Alberto is likely to find his first team chances limited even further.

With Liverpool having finished second in the Premier League and made their return to the Champions League next season, Rodgers has looked to strengthen his attacking options despite having enjoyed a fantastic goals haul over the course of the last year, with Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez having enjoyed fine seasons in front of goal.

With new additions set to make the move to Anfield, Alberto has become surplus to requirements and the Reds feel he would benefit from a season of regular first team football, with a loan fee finally agreed to allow him to move to debt-riddled Malaga.
