What’s the story?

Liverpool and Barcelona have locked horns for the transfer of Philippe Coutinho and are both not willing to change their stance. The clubs are yet to agree a deal for the Brazilian, but the Reds have now found a way of coming out as the winners even if they lost the midfielder.

As per reports in the Don Balon, the Premier League side have made enquiries to re-sign Luis Suarez. The manager wants to sign a striker to provide competition to Roberto Firmino.

In case you didn’t know…

Luis Suarez is a Liverpool legend despite being at the club for just 3 seasons. He scored tons of goals and was one of the most important players in their 2nd-place finish during the 2013/14 season.

He moved to Barcelona for a £64 million fee after the 2014 World Cup. He has unfinished business at the club and Klopp believes he can lure him back.

The heart of the matter

Liverpool are desperate to sign a striker as they only have Roberto Firmino to play in that position. The Brazilian needs competition and Daniel Sturridge and Danny Ings are never fit enough to give him that.

Sturridge has been linked with a move to Real Betis for the rest of the season as Klopp does not see him as a part of his plans. Ings meanwhile has attracted interest from Newcastle United, West Ham United and Stoke City.

Jurgen Klopp does not want to be left with just one striker and has asked the club to get him Luis Suarez as per the report. The Uruguayan has struggled in front of goal this season, netting just 10 in his 22 appearances for the Catalan side.

Author’s take

A Luis Suarez return would leave all Liverpool fans excited like never before, The striker had managed to make them title contenders with Sturridge and Gerrard and one can only wonder what would happen if he teams up with the likes of Salah and Mane in their current form.
