What's the news?

Liverpool midfielder Fabinho has pinpointed the reason behind the Reds' recent struggles in the Premier League.

In case you didn't know

The Reds are currently at the top of the Premier League table and are three points ahead of their closest rivals, Manchester City. They have not won the league title since 1990, but are in a strong position to end the drought this year.

However, they have failed to register a win in their last two league games against Leicester City and West Ham United respectively, which has increased the pressure on the team.

Fabinho joined Liverpool from AS Monaco last summer and has established himself as one of the important players at the club, after struggling during his initial months at Anfield.

The heart of the matter

Fabinho told ESPN FC about the reason behind the Reds' recent struggles but also revealed that he is not worried by that.

He said:

“We have confidence, “We enjoyed a brilliant December, which was almost perfect, but now we have had this dip.
“It is difficult to explain why this has happened. I believe that now teams who play against us sit very deep. We need to do things a little differently and maybe we aren't doing this. We are unable to find the spaces.
“Often, we want to go through the middle and it is difficult against physically strong and defensive teams. We need to find solutions and in these past few games we haven't.

He further elaborated:

“We want to play better every day and unfortunately it is not happening. We know our quality and we know that we can give more. If we do it, with our quality, we will continue at the top.
“But I'm talking and talking is always a little easier so we have to try to put it into practice. Personally, I am not worried. But we know that in the next game we have to give much more."

What's next?

Liverpool play Bournemouth next in the league, and the Reds will be looking forward to getting back to winning ways, after having dropped four points in their last two games.
