A lot of criticism and doubt has plagued Jordan Henderson's Anfield career. He was almost sold by Brendan Rodgers, his style of play is still criticised by many fans, and yet, the English midfielder has proved everyone wrong.

The current captain of the Reds, Henderson is the longest-tenured player at Anfield right now, and he has been the biggest servant for the club this decade.

The captain of Liverpool is a shining example of how working hard is the way to achieve your dreams. He has been immense for Liverpool for the past six years now, and he led his team to glory in June when they lifted the Champions League trophy.

Whatever his doubters may say, Jordan Henderson deserves to be the captain of this club and is one of the most underrated Premier League players of all time.

Central midfielder - Steven Gerrard

Although Steven Gerrard's best days ended when Roy Hodgson came, the former England captain was still one of the best midfielders in the Premier League until his final season. Athletic, with a rocket of a shot and a keen eye for a pass, Gerrard was unstoppable on his day.

Racking up 14 assists and getting into the PFA Team of the Year in 2014, the current Rangers manager played as a deep-lying playmaker in his last few years at the club.

The end of his career was not too kind for the scouser, who left Anfield in 2015. However, Stevie G is the most loved player in the history of Liverpool, and his role as the captain and creator for the first half of this decade warrants him a place here.

Attacking midfielder - Phillipe Coutinho

Signed for a meagre £8.5 million in 2013, Phillipe Coutinho grew from an inconsistent little kid to a world-class midfielder at Anfield.

Staying at the club for almost six years, Coutinho was arguably the Reds' best player for three seasons in the middle, when he was tearing up the league. He was involved in over 80 goals for the club in 201 appearances.

Known for his dribbling, vision, and his signature long shots, Coutinho was adored by Liverpool fans and was the player the team would go to when in need for a goal. The Brazilian international left for his dream club Barcelona in 2018, but he has not been the same player since leaving Anfield.

A part of him might be wishing that he never left, and there a few fans who would still take him back with open arms at the club.
