Liverpool target Bayer Leverkusen duo Emre Can and Heung Min-Son

Heung-Min Son

Whatever happens between now and the end of the season regarding the Premier League title race, Liverpool head into the last few weeks of the season knowing that their place in next season’s Champions League is already secure and are believed to already be planning their summer transfer business accordingly.

The Daily Star believe that Brendan Rodgers is preparing a double swoop on Bayer Leverkusen, with the newspaper linking Liverpool with moves for both Emre Can and Heung Min-Son.

The moves for central midfielder Can, who is also comfortable at both centre back and left back and aged just 20, and striker Son, who is a 21 year old attacking player, signal a concerted effort by the club to target promising young players.

Liverpool are currently top of the league, although a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday dented their chances of lifting a first league title in 24 years, but have got to the division’s summit on a threadbare squad compared to their rivals.

The lack of strength in depth means that Rodgers is likely to be active in the transfer window this summer, prompting speculation over moves for Son and Can.

Can Duels

Can has made 27 league appearances for Leverkusen this season, scoring twice and creating 15 chances. He has won 57 headed duels and has gone past his marker on 68 occasions over the course of the season.

Striker Son has scored nine times in 29 appearances, making him the club’s second highest goalscorer, and has also provided four assists.

Son Goals

Can has completed 52 tackles this season from 123 attempts
