Liverpool transfer news: Klopp wants Besiktas superstar, Schalke president hands Meyer boost and more - 24th March 2018

Talisca to replace Coutinho?

Jurgen Klopp set to rival Manchester United for Anderson Talisca

The Benfica attacker has been on-loan at Turkish side Besiktas since the start of last season. However, it is this season that the Brazilian has finally started to come into his own. Th 24-year old has scored 16 goals across all competitions this season, including 4 in the Champions League, which has naturally caught the attention of top clubs in Europe.

Now, Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp wants to bring the attacking midfielder to Anfield in the summer, as quoted by talkSPORT from Turkish news outlet, Fanatik. Talisca has just received a call-up from Tite for the current friendlies and fellow Brazilian Roberto Firmino can prove to be helpful in luring the attacker.

While the report mentions Manchester United as another interested party, Talisca will suit Liverpool better as Klopp is looking for Philippe Coutinho's replacement after the latter joined Barcelona in January. Thus, one Brazilian to replace another could prove to be the solution this summer for the Reds.

Liverpool receive a big boost in Max Meyer pursuit

Meyer is set to become a free agent this summer

The Schalke midfielder is set to become a free agent this summer and the Bundesliga club have been trying to renew his contract for a while now. However, the 22-year old has already turned down two offers, making it increasingly likely that he leaves in the summer, as per the Mirror.

As per the report, Liverpool and Arsenal are eyeing the German midfielder who has played predominantly in the holding midfield role this season. Now, the suitors have received a major boost as Schalke president Clemens Tonnies told Bild of a cancelled meeting with the player on short notice. He said:

"I had an appointment with Max and his advisor, which was canceled by the consultant at short notice."

Tonnies was further asked whether he was disappointed about the meeting getting cancelled and he replied:

"No, we live in a free country. If someone does not want to talk to me, I can not change that. For such stories, I'm just the joker. "

Meyer missing a meeting with his Schalke future on the line can only spell good news for Liverpool. The Reds are set to lose Emre Can in the summer as his contract is set to expire. Thus, Meyer could prove to be a like-for-like replacement at minimal cost so that Klopp can spend the transfer budget at areas requiring immediate attention.

Dani Ceballos gives Liverpool hope for a summer move

The Real Madrid midfielder has failed to make the expected impact since joining them from Real Betis in the summer. The 21-year old has struggled to oust the likes of Casemiro, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos from Zinedine Zidane' starting lineup and understands the need to play more at this age.

Liverpool have been linked with the midfielder with the Merseyside club looking to do business should there be an opportunity. Now, Ceballos himself looks to have opened that door as he spoke about his lack of playing time where he said:

“I do not regret not leaving. (Betis manager Enrique) Setien called me several times at Christmas telling me to help for five months. But the move could not be done."
“My goal is to be at Real Madrid this season and when the season ends (I will) decide my future, but I want to be here.”

Thus, the Spaniard's heart would want him to succeed at Real Madrid while the pragmatic side would look for more playing time and develop as a player. If he is willing to move in the summer, then Liverpool can add a talented midfielder to their roster.
