Liverpool transfer news: Premier League giants enter race for Salah, Update on Alisson move, and more - 24th April 2018

Hott
Mohamed Salah - the hottest property in world football?

Liverpool are currently third on the Premier League table, three points adrift of second-placed Manchester United, and far, far away from runaway league leaders Manchester City.

On the other hand, the UEFA Champions League still hangs in the balance, as the Reds prepare themselves to host AS Roma for the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals later tonight.

As things stand, regardless of how incredible Salah has been, alongside Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, Liverpool seemingly lack enough bite to actually challenge for the title.

That said, Jurgen Klopp and co will expectedly be on the lookout for a few summer signings to help bolster their chances next season.

On that note, here is a look at some of the top transfer stories of the day, involving Liverpool Football Club:

#1 Manchester United join Real Madrid in the race for Mo Salah

According to reports from Diario Gol, Real Madrid are extremely intent on signing Salah next summer in a bid to recover from the woeful season they've enjoyed this season.

Losing out on the La Liga title to Barcelona, Zinedine Zidane and Florentino Perez are believed to be keen on Salah.

The reports even claim that Perez could be willing to spend a whopping fee of €140 million, and could further include a player to tempt Jurgen Klopp into allowing Salah to leave.

Latest reports from The Daily Express, however, claim that Los Blancos are beginning to fear that Manchester United may hijack the deal.

The Red Devils are also reportedly interested in the Egyptian winger, and Real Madrid allegedly believe that a potential reunion with Jose Mourinho could prompt Salah to pick Manchester United instead.

#2 Jurgen Klopp will bid for Alisson only on one condition

Future
Future Liverpool star?

Despite the presence of Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet in their ranks, Liverpool are reportedly looking to sign a world-class goalkeeper who can help lift them to the next level.

During the January transfer window, Karius was struggling while Mignolet failed to find consistent form as well.

According to reports from The Daily Express, Jurgen Klopp had enquired about the possibility of singing Roma shot-stopper, Alisson Becker, who has reportedly remained on the Reds' radar ever since.

However, the reports claim that the Brazilian could cost an astonishing fee of £62 million, which will make him the world's most expensive goalkeeper.

The same report suggests that Klopp could indeed make a move for 25-year-old in the summer, but only if he deems the goalie worthy of the price tag.

#3 Liverpool set to lose Jorginho to Manchester City

Manchester
Manchester-bound?

Several earlier reports emerging from Europe had claimed that Liverpool were closely monitoring, and targeting Napoli midfielder Jorginho, who has been a crucial cog in Napoli's run in the Serie A this season.

Latest reports from the Daily Post claim that the Reds could very well lose out on the Italian, as Pep Guardiola's Manchester City have reportedly emerged as top contenders.

The Premier League leaders are believed to be looking for a deep-lying midfielder to replace club legend Yaya Toure, and Guardiola has seemingly decided on Jorginho, whose future could be decided even before the FIFA World Cup begins later this year.

The same report also suggests that Jorginho himself has expressed his desire to move to England.

“I think that I could fit (in), it depends on who else is around me,” he said. “I need players with the same characteristics that I have.
“There are English teams with this style of play, ball on the ground, quick transitions, high pressure. If one of those teams wanted me, I could fit and the other way round. My football way is not an usual one.”

Only time will tell us where the talented 26-year-old will eventually end up
