Liverpool Transfer News: Reds Tie Up Deal For Charlie Adam

A statement on Liverpool’s official website read-

Liverpool Football Club today announced they have reached agreement with Blackpool for the transfer of Charlie Adam.

The player will now travel to Merseyside for a medical and to discuss personal terms.

It is believed that negotiations have been going on for a while now, with the player’s agents at loggerheads with the club while their client was away in Dubai. But with Adam’s desire to leave apparent and Blackpool getting relegated to the second division, a transfer was always on the cards.

Adam has been a talisman for Blackpool both during their ascension to the Premier League and their ultimately failed attempts to remain there. During their time in the top flight, Adam saved them countless times with lion-like leadership, intelligent passes and through balls, unerring delivery from set pieces and deadly free kicks. He didn’t make a fuss when a move to Liverpool failed to materialise in January and played with his heart on his sleeve for the rest of the season as if nothing untoward had happened.

Tottenham and Liverpool had both been credited with an interest in the summer, but Adam’s desire to play at Anfield proved to be the deciding factor in the end. He becomes Kenny Dalglish’s second signing of the summer, after 20 million pound rated midfielder Jordan Henderson. This signing has taken far more time than Liverpool would have liked, but no nasty surprises in the medical permitting, they have finally got their man.
