Barcelona, Aug 9 (IANS) Barcelona coach Luis Enrique said on Tuesday that he currently has the best Barca squad since his arrival at the football club three years ago, and stressed that the door is still open to include another forward.

The Barcelona squad for the 2016-17 will kick off the season with the Juan Gamper Trophy match on Wednesday against Italian side Sampdoria, in which new players will participate, such as Samuel Umtiti, Lucas Digne, Andre Gomes and Denis Suarez, reports Efe.

According to the Catalan club's official website, Enrique said: "On paper, this is the best squad that I have had in my three years at Barca."

"If we find a player that will improve us, we will do it. If not, we continue with this squad, which is already great," he added.

"We have a squad that has been strengthened brilliantly. They have arrived at a very high physical level, the first days have been very positive," he stressed.

The Catalan club have been linked with the likes of Mauro Icardi, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Robin van Persie in this window. While the former two will prove to be beneficial in the long run, the latter will be a stop-gap solution that could potentially only benefit the club this season.

Either way, the Catalans are in for a bit of problem searching for a striker. All of Europe's top clubs are looking for strikers and are having to settle for unproven talent to fill in that gap in front.
