Luis Suarez: £100 million reasons to stay at Anfield!

Liverpool v Cardiff City - Premier League

100 million reasons!

Mercurial striker Luis Suarez, who recently signed a new £10 million-a-year contract with Liverpool has two buy-out clauses in his contract.

Reports suggests, any foreign club will have to cough up a world record £100m if they want to sign the Uruguayan hitman. While this figure rises further to a whooping £130 million, if a Premier League club intends to sign him.

The buy-out clauses have ensured that a move away from Anfield for the super-striker is next to none and it even stops any further speculation on his future unlike last year.

The Premier League top scorer had a shady £40 miilion clause in his previous deal, which was not a release clause but only obliged Liverpool to inform him of an offer made for the striker. This clause was the subject of intense scrutiny in the summer window, with Suarez even suggesting at a point that he will move to court to settle this dispute and force his move away from Anfield to Arsenal, after a £40,00,000 +1 bid was made by the Gunners.

Suarez and his agent wanted a proper ‘buy-out’ clause in his new bumper contract, but the numbers are so high that it literally makes Suarez unsalable.

Real Madrid are the only likely suitor of the Uruguayan in the next few years, but they would have to top the world record fee they paid for Gareth Bale only earlier this year. Somewhere down the line, this transfer might happen, but Liverpool will at-least have a £100 million good reasons to do so.

The second buy-out clause rules out any potential move to another Premier League club. The figures make financial sense for all parties, along with his pay hike, this package has put a smile on everyone’s faces bar Arsenal and Real Madrid!
