Malaga security guards accused of taking away Leo Messi’s shirt from young fan

Messi malaga pitch invader
The young boy is taken away by security

After Barcelona’s 2-1 win over Malaga on Saturday, a young pitch invader stole headlines when he hugged Lionel Messi. He was rewarded for his adventure with the superstar’s T-shirt. It is an act of humility we have come to expect from the great man. But reports have emerged claiming that the boy had the shirt taken from him by security.

The claim has surfaced on Facebook after the mother of one of the kid’s friend who’s home town is Villanueva de la posted about the same. The Post read:

This child’s name is Kevin, he is 15 and is a friend of my son, Diego. Messi gave him his shirt and the security officers at the Rosaleda stadium took it away from him. It’s outrageous, what do they get out of destroying a boy’s happiness?as translated by 101greatgoals.

The actual facebook post by the mother is given below:

The pitch invader was visibly overjoyed after receiving the jersey from his idol but if these reports are true it seems very harsh and extreme by the guards. This obviously wasn’t the first act of its kind by a player on the pitch with other greats like Ronaldinho and Ibrahimovic also gifting their jerseys to enthusiastic supporters who dared to go where few have gone before.

Messi inspires Barcelona again

Earlier, Messi inspired Barca to a 2-1 victory by scoring a wonderful scissors kick, helping them come away with all three points. Munir El Haddadi had opened the scoring for the Catalans in the second minute but Malaga equalized through Jaunpi 13 minutes before half time.

Malaga have also been a tough team to beat especially at home. Barcelona have stumbled and struggled at this hurdle before. They had managed only a point altogether in both home and away fixtures last season. Malaga held the Catalans to a draw at home and then shocked them away with a 1-0 victory at the Nou Camp.

This time around though, Messi ensured Blaugrana came away with the three points, with a piece of brilliance as we have come to expect from the little man.

Barcelona are now top of La Liga, level on points with Atletico, leading in head-to-head after their win over the latter earlier in the season. Real Madrid are now four points off the pace after their draw against Real Betis.

The leaders play Athletic Bilbao at the Nou Camp in the quarter finals of the Copa Del Rey tomorrow after which they face a crucial title test against rivals Atletico Madrid at the weekend.
