Malaga winger Joaquin to join Fiorentina

Joaquin’s move to Fiorentina is all but done

Spanish club Malaga and Serie A side Fiorentina have reached an agreement regarding the transfer of winger Joaquin Sanchez Rodriguez. The Spanish international will join Fiorentina subject to personal terms.

“ACF Fiorentina and Malaga CF announce they have reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of Joaquin Sanchez Rodriguez,” read the statement released by Fiorentina Wednesday,

The club also confirmed the departure of the 31-year-old with a statement on their official website: “Malaga would like to thank Joaquin for his dedication, professionalism and commitment to the club and wishes him luck in his first professional experience outside of Spain.”

Joaquin joined Malaga in 2011 and made 68 appearances in the two year period scoring 11 goals. He also has 56 caps for Spain.

Malaga who are currently without a manager after Manuel Pellegrini, who left the club after they lost their appeal against a one-year ban from European competition. The ban was due to unpaid bills, which now rules them out of next season’s Europa League. Sevilla will now be taking their place in Europe.
