Mamadou Sakho: There Is More To Come From Me

Sakho Stats

Nicknamed simply ‘killer’ by the man who brought him to Anfield, Mamadou Sakho has told The Mirror that he does not want to be a part of the group of expensive players that has recently struggled at for Liverpool.

Signed in the summer for a reported £17m from Paris Saint Germain, the 23-year old has made a solid start to his career on Merseyside and is determined to become a key figure for the club.

“When you arrive in a country you don’t know, you have to learn quickly about the differences in the game and have to get on and adapt yourself to the qualities of your teammates.

“I’m not yet at 100 per cent, I’m progressing with each match that we have

“I work every day at training sessions to progress and to achieve the highest level. It’s logical that I would improve.”

A dodgy first game sparked fear into Liverpool fans, but Sakho has got better in each game he has played under Brendan Rodgers – contributing to their fine start to the new campaign.

Rodgers is pleased with the young centre-back’s start and explains that he knew there would be a settling in period for the France international, as there would be with any new signing.

“Over the course of matches, you hope to be able to adapt to and dominate with a different system. I don’t think it will be a problem.” said the former Swansea City manager.

Sakho concurs his manager’s thoughts, stating that he will prove himself to be value for money in the long run and hopes the Anfield Kop gets behind him while he settles into a new culture.

“It’s getting better as I learn the language, because I need to communicate, but there are still mistakes – I’ve found myself driving on the right once or twice!” he revealed.

“But I am learning. With the football, I am not experienced because it is different to France, but I listen hard to the instructions of the coach.”
