Manchester United transfer news: Kluivert denies all transfer claims, Mourinho wants Dortmund star, and more - 5th February 2018
Manchester United are preparing for another busy summer transfer window as Jose Mourinho prepares to catch Pep Guardiola and Manchester City for the Premier League title next season.
Following his 2-0 win over Huddersfield, as per reports from Independent.ie Mourinho hinted that Manchester United will not be signing any forwards in the summer and will focus on midfield reinforcement.
On that note, we now take a look at the top Manchester United transfer rumours on 5th February 2018:
Kluivert denies rumours of Old Trafford move
Ajax youngster Justin Kluivert has denied any truth to the rumours of him joining Manchester United in the summer and claims that he has held no talks with Jose Mourinho over a switch to the Premier League.
There were several reports from publications in Europe over the last 24 hours which claimed that Mourinho has earmarked Kluivert as his next big transfer and that the Red Devils have even agreed on a £10million deal for the Dutch sensation.
However, speaking with Voetbal Inside (via Goal.com), Kluivert cleared up the rumours and said: "The chances of me leaving are slim. I haven't spoken to Jose Mourinho myself. I know as much as you do.
"Rumours are always there, but Manchester United has never come up and I don't think it's a logical step. A few more years at Ajax? Who knows, we'll see."
It's a 3-way battle for Pulisic
Manchester United have reportedly entered a 3-way battle with Liverpool and Bayern Munich to sign the Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic, reports Sports Witness.
Bayern Munich have made a habit of snapping local talent from their Bundesliga rivals with the most recent addition to their squad being Schalke's Leon Goretzka on a free transfer.
The likes of Robert Lewandowski, Mario Goezte and Sandro Wagner have also opted for Bayern Munich over their European suitors in the past which makes Bayern the firm favourites to sign Pulisic in the summer.
Manchester United are also in the hunt to sign a new number 10 for Jose Mourinho with Pulisic rumoured to fill that spot.
However, with Bayern now interested in the player, we may see Pulisic eager to stay in Germany and play for one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Spurs and United linked with Kovacic
Manchester United's hunt for a combative midfielder has seen them get linked with a move for Real Madrid's out of favour star Mateo Kovacic, reports AS.
United manager Jose Mourinho is struggling to get the best out of Paul Pogba in the bigger games and wants a 3-man midfield to give him proper cover to dominate the game in opponent's final third.
However, Mourinho does not have a proper midfielder apart from Nemanja Matic to dominate from the midfield which has forced United to look for new additions in the summer transfer window.
According to The Daily Mail, Bayern Munich's Arturo Vidal is also linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer and the Chilean will come on a free transfer.
Manchester United, however, are keeping their options open and are also keeping a close watch on Kovacic and Dortmund's Julian Weigl, as per reports from The Daily Express.
