Man Utd Injury Boost: Moyes’ £24m main man to return for Chelsea clash

Robin van Persie is set to return to Manchester United within 10 days after completing two weeks of specialist fitness work back home in Holland, according to Goal.

The United striker has been working one-on-one with PSV Eindhoven’s fitness coach Arno Phillips after injuring his thigh in early-December.

According to Goal, van Persie has completed the final stage of his rehabilitation and will return to Manchester imminently.

Sources say there is a program in place for the Dutchman to steadily get back to full fitness before making his long-awaited return to the side.

The Dutch forward is not expected to feature in this weekend’s match against Swansea City but he may be available for the game against Chelsea eight days later.

The 30-year-old’s second season at United has been interrupted with injury, meaning he’s scored just 10 goals. However, his importance to the team is shown by the fact that those 10 goals have come in just 16 matches.

Van Persie was ruled out for a month in December after injuring his thigh whilst taking a corner against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.
