Hello and welcome to the la Liga latest transfer news and rumours of the day! Here are the top stories of the day surrounding the Spanish league.

#3 Frenkie De Jong

The Dutchman may have been signed by Barcelona but the aftereffects of it have become visible. After signing for the Catalans, De Jong admitted that Pep Guardiola and PSG manager Thomas Tuchel spoke to him personally.

This hasn’t particularly gone down well with Ernesto Valverde. He believes that it is not right for a manager to speak to a player personally when he is contracted to another club.

"Talking to a player who is under contract with another team is something that can't be done," he was quoted as saying.

"You can't talk to a player who is under contract and that's something that isn't in my personal code but suffice to say, everyone has their own way of acting.”

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola also had something to say about De Jong choosing Barcelona over the Etihad outfit. The former Barcelona manager stated that he is not unhappy that the Dutchman rejected City.

"I am not disappointed in him [De Jong]," he said.

He also added that it is hard for City to compete with the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona because of how reputed they are.

"It is almost impossible to compete with Barcelona or Madrid due to the prestige they have, the league that they play in and because they are incredible clubs."

Finally, he concluded by stating that it is up to the footballers to make the choice on where they want to play.

"Players have to be free to choose [what club they go to]. If they don't come, it's because they prefer another club; we have to respect it and seek an alternative."

#2 James loves Madrid

The father of James Rodriguez, Juan Carlos Restrepo, has stated that his son still loves Real Madrid. James has a lot of great memories at the Santiago Bernabeu, which is why they are always in his heart. It has been reported that the Bavarians might not sign him permanently.

As a result, there is a chance that he comes back to Madrid and stays there for a second stint. His father has also advocated the possibility, claiming that he could once again play for the Blancos if he plays well in the coming months.

"Real Madrid are one of his loves, but unfortunately he had to look at a different course. However, that does not mean that he doesn't love Los Blancos, an institution that allowed him to enjoy beautiful moments.

"Inside his heart, given that he is a fan of Real Madrid, he will contemplate the possibility of returning.

"Real Madrid own his rights and I imagine that if he has good performances then his return would be possible."

#1 Eriksen and Coutinho

Real Madrid had been linked to Christian Eriksen for a while. However, it now seems that they have ended their interest in the Dane. The former Ajax star's contract with Spurs ends in 2020, which means that he would be available for a bargain price this summer.

However, AS claim that Barcelona's purchase of Frenkie De Jong for close to €86 million has skyrocketed Eriksen's asking price. As a result, the Merengues have opted to abandon their interest in the player.

Finally, Don Balon state that Manchester United have targeted Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona. The Red Devils are willing to make a €140 million bid for the superstar. They believe that his addition would elevate the club's status in the Champions League along with Paul Pogba.
