What's the story?

Manchester United have long been linked with a move for Real Madrid star Gareth Bale and now latest reports in Spain claim that the Red Devils have an agreement with the Welshman over a potential transfer in the summer transfer window.

According to reports in Diario Gol (via The Express), Madrid have become fed up with the constant injury problems faced by Bale and they are ready to cash in on the 28-year-old winger. The only stumbling block might be the price as Real Madrid are holding out for £79 million while Manchester United do not want to pay above £65 million for Bale.

Tottenham Hotspur are the other club interested in securing his services, but United seem to have beaten their Premier League rivals as they reportedly have a personal agreement with the Welshman regarding a transfer in the summer transfer window.

Bale made a scoring return to the Real Madrid side scoring in their Club World Cup semi-final against Al Jazira. However, the Welshman's appearances have been too few and far in between.

Madrid have decided to sell him for the right price and with Bale himself reportedly keen on playing for Manchester United, the move could come to fruition in the coming months.

The heart of the matter

Although Madrid seem to have decided to sell Bale, they are not sitting idle in the transfer market. Marquee moves for Aubameyang, Dybala and Hazard have all been talked about and Zidane could already be planning for life without the Welshman.

Manchester United, on the other hand, can certainly do with some extra zip in their attack. Although Martial and Rashford have been pretty good for them this season, Bale is a truly world class player who can win matches almost single-handedly. If Bale is fit and United do indeed pull off this transfer, they might well be challenging for all the top honours across Europe next season.
