Manchester United apologise for nazi-style logo gaffe

Manchester United have issued an apology for sending an email that contained a Nazi-style logo to its fans.

United Uncovered, the weekly official email that is sent to fans that have subscribed, had the controversial logo and under the header of “New Order” had listed the names of Adnan Januzaj, David de Gea and Danny Welbeck. The headline, when combined with the use of the logo, was offending as well, as it was also used by Hitler when he called for a European New Order.

Further to an outrage from fans on Twitter, David Sternberg, the Head of Media for the club, immediately tweeted an apology, “The creative is completely inappropriate; we apologise unreservedly and are taking appropriate internal action.”

Upon questions from the fans on how such an offending image was allowed to be published, he further tweeted, “That’s what is being investigated – obviously it shouldn’t have.”
