Manchester United have confirmed their defender Tyler Reid has joined Swansea City for an undisclosed fee on July 12, Tuesday.

The 18-year-old who joined the Red Devils from Arsenal will now sign on the dotted line at the Welsh club to pen a three-year deal. The full-back made only one start for United Under 21's championship-winning campaign and scored a crucial goal in Warren Joyce's side's 1-0 win over Sunderland last October.

A statement on United's official website read, "Manchester United full-back Tyler Reid has signed for Swansea City for an undisclosed fee.

"Twice on the scoresheet for the Under-18s and a regular in the Academy team defence, he also made four appearances in the UEFA Youth League. Everybody at United would like to wish Tyler the best of luck in his future career."

Reid has admitted that he is looking for a fresh challenge at his new club and is hoping that he can go on to develop himself at the Liberty Stadium.

“I am really looking forward to a fresh challenge and getting started. I see a good opportunity to play first team football with the Development squad here," Reid told Swansea's official website.

“I see myself as a quick, strong and powerful player who likes to get forward. I hope I can offer something both in attack and defence. Swansea play good attractive football and I think that suits my style of play.”

Joe Rothwell
Joe Rothwell is also looking for greener pastures

Reid is not the only player to leave Old Trafford. Midfielder Joe Rothwell has left United to join Oxford United. He will play under the former Red Devils player Michael Appleton as the midfielder signed a two-year deal with the League One outfit.

In the past, Rothwell was sent out on loan to Blackpool and Barnsley. On his return to Old Trafford, former United manager Louis van Gaal gave him a shot at the first team debut against Watford in March.
