Newly crowned champions of England Manchester United have today confirmed that they will celebrate their triumph with an open-top bus parade through the city next month.
United will receive their trophy after their final home game against Swansea on 12th May and the club have fixed 13th May (Monday) as the date for the parade, which will begin at Old Trafford in the early evening and end at the City Center. The exact details of timings and route will be confirmed later.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has congratulated Sir Alex Ferguson and his squad for their success. Speaking to reporters ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League semifinal clash against Borussia Dortmund, the man who is touted to overtake Sir Alex as and when the Scotsman retires said:
“What he [Sir Alex] did is what he has been doing all his life, winning. Sometimes not consecutively because it is impossible to do it.
“That’s his life and his career. I congratulate him, it is not a surprise to me or to the world that Sir Alex and Manchester United won the title again.”
Current England manager Roy Hodgson also hailed Sir Alex’s impact on English football and dubbed him ‘a magician’. Speaking to BBC Sport, the former Liverpool and West Brom manager said:
“It is incredible; the most incredible thing is being able to do it, year after year.
“We are talking about someone with an incredible ability to keep himself fresh, just how many teams has he rebuilt? His teams have won 13 league titles and goodness knows how many cups, so there is not much we can say really other that we would all like to know how he does it and we would all like to know the secret.
“And if we talk about magic in football, the only magicians I know are people like Sir Alex Ferguson who year after year, keep producing incredible performances from his teams and players, and keeps building teams from the ashes of previous teams.”
