Manchester United eye Turkish stopper as Vidic replacement

Kaya

Turkish international defender Semih Kaya has been lined up as a direct replacement for the departing Nemanja Vidic at Manchester United, according to talkSPORT.

Vidic, 32, confirmed last night that he is to leave Man United in the summerwhen his contract expires, leaving a gap in David Moyes’ defence.

The Serbian defender is set to be the first of many long-standing United players to leave the club in the summer as Moyes plans a complete overhaul of the playing squad after a tough first season in charge.

Rio Ferdinand’s future is also still unclear so Moyes is definitely on the lookout for top quality central defensive replacements for two of United’s best ever defenders.

Kaya, 22, has impressed for both Galatasaray and Turkey, earning plaudits all season. There is, apparently, a number of clubs chasing his signature with the Turkish club keen to keep a hold of him.

The 22-year-old is thought to be rated at around £12 million and could force a move to the Premier League in the summer if there is enough interest on Man Utd’s behalf.

Kaya won 71% of his tackles (5/7) in four Champions League games this season.
