Manchester United lost to Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League Quarter Finals by one goal to nil at Old Trafford. It was an own goal by Luke Shaw which proved to be the difference between the two sides. The first half of the match was pretty even but Barcelona started with a spring in their step as they passed the ball around comfortably and created a chance which they buried.Sergio Busquets found Lionel Messi with a chipped pass and the Argentine picked out Luis Suarez who headed the ball via a Shaw deflection into the back of the net. After that goal, Manchester United did very well to control proceedings and they started dominating Barcelona, but they were lacking that final touch in the final third, and Barcelona went into the second half with a one-goal advantage. The second half of the match saw Manchester United play with high intensity and they were dominating Barcelona in the middle of the pitch. Rashford missed a huge chance as he miscued a half-volley 10 yards from goal.Barcelona, on the other hand, was finding it difficult to keep up with the intensity of Manchester United and they were trying to slow the game down whenever they got the chance. In the end, Barcelona saw the game through and they go into the second leg of the match with a crucial away goal. Manchester United, on the other hand, wouldn't be too let down with that performance as they kept the Blaugrana at bay for large chunks of that game. The most disappointing thing about United was how Ashley Young performed because he had so many opportunities on the right side to put in a decent cross but not one of his crosses reached a Manchester United shirt. Moreover, Young is the most senior player of the team and the captain, but performances like these don't really help his reputation. After that performance, Ashley Young was criticised by United fans on Twitter, and here are some of the reactions.Tonight, Ashley Young lost possession a total of 32 times and attempted 11 crosses with 0 meeting their target. No player on the pitch lost possession more or had a worse crossing rate than him. pic.twitter.com/hOrObBQ3J3— UtdArena.
