Reports: Man United goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini completes medical with Hellas Verona

Hellas Verona have reportedly acquired Manchester United goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini, according to Forza Italian Football.

Gollini, who joined Manchester United from Fiorentina in 2011, was a regular in the Old Trafford club’s reserve and youth team matches, establishing himself in their setup.

The 19-year-old has, however, seemingly made the move to continue his development back in Serie A, with Hellas Verona offering a clearer route to first team football than the crowded goalkeeping scene at Manchester United.

Sky Sports Italia are reporting that Gollini has both completed a medical and signed a deal with the Serie A side, with confirmation expected in the next few days. He is expected to sign a 5-year-deal with the club.

Gollini was reportedly offered a new contract by Manchester United, who are seemingly set to sign Ander Herrera, but turned it down in favour of getting more playing time with the Mastini.

The goalkeeper and the Manchester United youth side had an impressive run in the UEFA Youth League last season. He has also appeared for Italy’s Under-19s.

Gollini becomes the first Manchester United player to be signed from the club since Louis van Gaal’s appointment, although murmurings of a drastic overhaul suggest he could be the first of a few to depart. Manchester United’s first choice goalkeeper David de Gea missed only one Premier League game last season.
