What’s the story?
Manchester United are reportedly interested in making a shock move for Borussia Dortmund superstar Marco Reus. According to reports in Spain and Germany, Jose Mourinho is a huge fan of the German attacking midfielder’s talents and he sees the 27-year-old as a perfect long-term replacement for Wayne Rooney.
Reus has had another campaign disrupted by injuries but he has shown his class and quality whenever he has stepped out on the pitch. Should Reus keep himself fit, there is no doubt that he is one of the best attacking midfielders in world football at the moment. Mourinho is reportedly willing to take a gamble on the 27-year-old’s fitness and bring him to Old Trafford next season.

Marco Reus has long been linked with a move to the Premier League with clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal and even Chelsea having expressed an interest in the German international. However, concerns over his fitness and Reus’ loyalty have prevented a transfer from taking place in the past.
With Reus now 27, reports believe that the talented midfielder is ready to experience a new challenge and he could well end up making the move to Old Trafford if United come up an offer which is suitable for Dortmund.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is determined to build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season and he has already earmarked 2-3 marquee players for the Red Devils next season.
With Wayne Rooney set to leave at the end of the season, Marco Reus could take the Englishman’s position at United. Should the German international remain fit, he will certainly provide a quality option to Mourinho and one can see why the Portuguese manager would look towards Reus to add quality and depth to the United attack.
What’s next?
A lot of the summer transfer activity at Manchester United will depend on whether the Red Devils win the Europa League and qualify for the Champions League. Marco Reus might be persuaded to leave Dortmund, but the German international will definitely like to play in a club in the Champions League and Mourinho will be determined to guide United to the Europa League title at the end of the season.

While Reus’ loyalty to Dortmund has been admirable in the past few seasons, the time seems apt for the German international to make a change. Should United make it to the Champions League, the move definitely makes sense for all parties involved and we might well see Reus light up the Premier League next season.
