According to Sky Sports Manchester United are still interested in Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale and are willing to bide their time in pursuit of the most expensive football player on the planet. United’s interest in the former Tottenham star is well documented.

During David Moyes’ tenure at Old Trafford, reportedly a bid worth 120 million euros was made by Manchester United, but it was turned down by Real Madrid. Since then United have maintained a concrete interest in the Wales star.

It is understood no formal talks have taken place between clubs, and according to Sky Sports, Bale is expected to remain at Real Madrid beyond this summer's transfer window. Despite maintaining a keen interest in the 26-year-old winger, Manchester United understand that Bale is not for sale this summer.

Jonathan Barnett, who facilitated Bale's deal making him a Real Madrid player in 2013, told Sky Sports: "Why would he look to go elsewhere? Real Madrid at the No 1 club in the world. There's always interest in him – but as far as we are concerned he'll be at Real Madrid next summer."

Bale who has been the centre of attention due to the boos received from the Bernabeu has himself no intention of leaving Real Madrid this summer. Bale even recently denied any move away from the Bernabeu. He was quoted as saying, “I can't imagine myself at Manchester United.

“In a recent interview, [the Spanish press] asked me if I was unhappy at Real and I told them I'm really happy here. I've got several years left on my contract, I'm enjoying myself, we're winning trophies and I want to keep doing that here at Real."

Bale unlikely to move this summer

Although it looks increasing likely that Bale will stay at the Bernabeu this summer, a transfer to Manchester United could still be on the cards, possibly next summer if not this. With United in real need of a superstar player as mentioned by Van Gaal in a recent press conference, Bale would be the perfect candidate. United would have to reportedly cough up a world record fee to have any chance of signing the Real Madrid superstar.

Until Real Madrid and Perez have faith in Bale, expect him to stay at Real Madrid. However with patience in short supply at the Bernabeu, Bale would do well to start performing consistently and with fans booing him in the Bernabeu trophy, he needs to start doing it now.
